We would like to acknowledge the Bundjalung people, who are the traditional custodians of the land that Southern Cross School stand on. We would also like to pay respects to Elders past and present and extend that respect to any Aboriginal people.
On Friday 30th June we celebrated NAIDOC Week by having activities from 11:30am to 1:00pm. Each stage participated in activities designed to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, language and culture. Stage one rotated through activities including story writing, listening to a story, Bundjalung language puzzles, boomerang appreciation, and traditional games. Stage two walked from Skennars Head to Angels Beach along the walking path and read Aboriginal cultural stories. Stage three participated in traditional games and painting activities. Our students enjoyed playing, laughing, creating, learning, and using our Bundjalung resources.
