Colour Run
The School Colour Run was an incredible celebration of fun, fitness and school spirit! In the lead-up to the big day, excitement filled the air as teachers were slimed for every $5000 raised, adding to the laughter and anticipation across the school. On the day, students ran, danced and cheered their way through a series of colourful stations, enjoying every moment together. A huge thank you to Mr Whitney and Mr Hamilton for their keen organisation, regular updates and inspired enthusiasm in bringing this event to life. We also extend our thanks to all staff who embraced the fun and helped make the day such a vibrant and memorable success for everyone involved.
Celebrating Kindergarten
Our Kindergarten students celebrated this exciting milestone with a day filled with fun, laughter and creativity. The 100 Days of Kindergarten celebration is a much-loved tradition that marks the first 100 days of learning, growth and friendship. Students enjoyed dressing up as 100-year-olds and reflecting on just how much they’ve learned and achieved so far. It was a wonderful occasion that recognised the hard work of our students and teachers, and the incredible progress made during their first year of school.

Cross Country
Students at Southern Cross Public School take part in our school cross country, enjoying a fantastic day of fun, fitness and friendly competition. It’s always wonderful to see everyone giving their best effort, cheering on their peers and showing great sportsmanship throughout the day. Congratulations to all participants for their enthusiasm and determination, and a special mention to the students who went on to represent our school and the North Coast PSSA at the State Cross Country Championships. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and the way they represented our school with pride and perseverance.
Young Leaders Day
National Young Leaders Day is an annual event held across Australia and New Zealand that brings students together to develop their leadership skills and be inspired by influential role models. Organised by Halogen, the event features prominent leaders who share their personal stories and insights on resilience, hard work, and determination. This year, students had the privilege of hearing from Kasey Rainbow, artist and author; Dayne Zorko, Brisbane Lions captain; Todd Hazelwood, champion supercar driver; and Sam Mostyn AC, Australia’s Governor-General. The experience encouraged our students to think deeply about what it means to lead themselves and others with purpose and confidence.
School Intensive Swimming
Our school Intensive Swimming Program, which has been a great success. We’ve seen remarkable growth in our students’ confidence and skills in the water. This valuable program gives students the opportunity to participate in daily swimming lessons focused on developing strong swimming techniques and essential water safety skills. By providing consistent, structured practice, the program helps build students’ confidence, endurance and understanding of how to stay safe in and around the water. It’s been wonderful to see the enthusiasm and progress of all our swimmers as they continue to develop their abilities throughout the program.
Kindergarten Transition
Starting school is an exciting milestone for children and families, and at Southern Cross Public School we aim to make this transition a positive and supportive experience. Our Kindergarten Transition to School program helps children build confidence, develop a sense of belonging, and become familiar with the school environment. Through engaging activities, they have the opportunity to meet teachers, staff and new friends while learning about school routines and expectations. We work closely with families to ensure every child feels ready, supported and excited to begin their learning journey at Southern Cross Public School.
Creative Arts Camp
Students from our school attended the North Coast Creative Arts Camp at Tyalgum Ridge Resort in the last week of Term 3, participating with outstanding enthusiasm and excellence. The camp provides students in Years 4 to 6 with the opportunity to extend their skills and knowledge across all areas of the creative arts through quality extension activities not usually available in the classroom. Guided by experienced staff, students stepped outside their comfort zones and developed new skills in concert band, strings, percussion, guitar, dance, visual arts, vocals and drama. The week was filled with creativity, collaboration and fun, concluding with a spectacular concert that showcased the talents and dedication of all participants. Our students’ behaviour throughout the camp was exemplary, reflecting respect, cooperation and school pride. Many expressed a strong desire to attend again next year after such an inspiring and memorable experience.
Southern Cross School Production
Our whole school production is a much-loved biannual event that provides students with the opportunity to showcase their talents and skills in the performing arts. It’s a highlight on our school calendar, with students embracing the chance to perform in front of their families and the wider community. This wonderful event not only celebrates creativity and collaboration but also brings our entire school community together in a shared spirit of pride and enjoyment.
